How does the Lego movie use intertextuality to represent different people in the target audience? The Lego movie uses intertextuality to represent different members of the family target audience. The film is rated U which connotes the primary target audience is younger children while the secondary target audience is teenagers, parents and grandparents. It has an easy to understand narrative and is full of very kid friendly content. There are repetitive happy songs which children love and are easily intrigued by. That is how it leans towards the primary target audience. The secondary audience for teenagers attracts them by creating a nostalgia memory which teenagers love.
